Do you think stem cell research is good, bad, or dangerous? Should it be funded by the government?
IMO, stem cell research is very important, being one of the most critical technologies for coming generation. I understand that some people treat some aspects of the latest biotechnology as bad or dangerous, but what we should consider first is that stem cell technology definitely can save human lives which we have to give up at this point of time. I was thrilled on last November when Japanese government swiftly decided to fund 70 billion yen for stem cell research next five years and developing for an infrastructure to support Prof. Shin'ya Yamanaka's research; I'd be disappointed if US government doesn't show the same kind of support for their bioscientists.
